Parish Pastoral Council

The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) is a group of committed lay people who come together with the Parish Priest to share responsibility for the development of the parish community of faith and the mission of the church in their area.

It seeks to enrich the quality of parish life and ensure that parishioners have available to them all they need in order to grow in faith, and to discover and live out their personal and community call to mission.

The PPC’s role is to listen, and study the life and activity of the parish :

  • to research and identify needs, hopes and criticisms of parishioners,
  • to evaluate Parish life and mission in the light of Christ’s teaching, broader church initiatives, the values and goals of the Parish, and to develop, implement and improve pastoral programmes

St Bernadette’s PPC is organised according to Diocesan statutes.  Meetings occur bi-monthly, although final decisions belong to the Parish Priest, who is always appreciative of the advice, recommendations and discussions of the PPC to help him make those decisions.

The PPC invites all parishioners to participate in planning, encouraging, guiding and directing various aspects of Parish life, either through membership of the Council, participation in the Biennial Parish Assembly, or submission of ideas to the PPC.
